Special session:
Collaborative project on multicore communications

Content

Implement Multicore Association Communication API (MCAPI) on FPGAs for soft core processors and HW IP-blocks.

Motivation

Rapidly port applications between

  • computers and on-chip FPGA processors
  • different FPGA devices and vendors
  • processors and hardware implementations

Contributions

Open source code + scientific paper + optionally hands-on integration workshop on FPGA World 2012

Call for detailed contributions

  • MCAPI transport implementation on soft core processors: Altera NIOS, Xilinx MicroBlaze
  • To allow multiple MCAPI nodes per CPU use some kernel or operating system like uC/OS-II/III, QNX, Nucleus, OS of your choise
  • Hardware implementation of MCAPI to allow VHDL/Verilog written IP-blocks to communicate with MCAPI abstraction
  • Protocol adapters and bridges between MCAPI API and physical buses
  • MCAPI geared applications demonstrating distribution of computation on different processors
